In 2019 Bass Coast Shire Council declared a climate emergency, recognising that climate change is a serious risk to the safety and prosperity of Bass Coast. This declaration calls for immediate and urgent action be taken to reduce emissions and build a resilient Bass Coast community.

Following extensive community consultation, we developed a Climate Change Action Plan, which sets a target of zero net emissions for both Council operations and the community. At Council, significant steps have already been taken towards zero net emissions by sourcing 100% renewable energy for all of our buildings, facilities and street lighting.

This platform has something for everybody interested in learning more about reducing the impacts of Climate Change locally. Check out the Community Actions page to read more about what you can do, or the Council Actions page to see what we are doing to support the community and drive change within our organisation to achieve zero net emissions by 2030.
