Living Lightly - Water Wise Gardening Workshop

Discover practical ways to create a productive and beautiful garden that uses water wisely and is better prepared for dry conditions.

In this workshop we’ll explore simple ways to make the most of the water available in your garden, from choosing when and how to wate,r to improving the soil so it can hold moisture for longer.

We’ll look at the role of mulch, compost and organic matter, thoughtful plant selection and placement, and ways to group plants according to their water needs. We’ll also explore different watering methods and some practical options for capturing, directing and making better use of water around the garden.

Along the way, we’ll consider how garden design, shade, wind and changing seasonal conditions can affect how quickly soil and plants lose moisture, and how small changes can make a garden more resilient.

Whether you have a vegetable patch, an established garden, a few pots or are starting from scratch, you’ll leave with achievable ideas for reducing unnecessary water use while still keeping your garden healthy and productive.

This workshop is part of the Living Lightly series, delivered by Harriet Pellizzer in partnership with Bass Coast Shire Council.

Registration is essential so we can keep in contact if there are any changes and ensure adequate materials for participants.
