Living Lightly - Kitchen Gardens Workshop
We'll look at what makes sense to grow for your household and our local seasons, including productive herbs and vegetables that can provide repeated harvests. We'll explore growing in small spaces and containers, getting more life from supermarket herbs, regrowing and propagating suitable plants, saving and sharing seeds and seedlings, and making thoughtful choices about what is genuinely worthwhile growing at home.
The workshop will also look at the kitchen garden as part of a bigger cycle. We'll explore ways to make better use of excess produce, return suitable food and garden scraps to the soil through composting or worm farming, use resources more wisely, and share surplus produce, seeds and plants within our communities.
Along the way we'll separate a few useful gardening practices from some of the myths, look at simple ways to save water and money, and consider how even a very small growing space can contribute to household food resilience.
Participants will leave with practical ideas they can adapt to their own home, budget and available space, along with plenty of inspiration to look at their kitchen garden, food and everyday resources a little differently.
